There is no myth about "starvation mode". It has been a way of survival for humans since the beginning of time. But your body doesn't stay in that mode. Eventually it kicks back into gear so to speak and the weight comes off again. In the beginning people hit "plateaus" where they don't lose any weight and this continues throughout any weight loss process. But it's my belief that the plateaus in the beginning of a gastric byp patient are that starvation mode kicking and and going"what up here" then its almost like your body works itself out of the situation and you begin to lose weight again. These plateaus generally last about 1-2 weeks in the beginning.
