How do you find the gradient of a line from coordiantes?

With these two points the gradient of the line would be -2. The way to find the gradient (slope) of the line is to see the difference in numbers in x-coordinates and the y-coordinates. For example the difference between -1 and 2 (the two x-coordinates) is 3 so you would make a fraction bar and put three on the bottom, then do the y-coordinates (5 and -1) the difference is -6, so that would go on the top of the fraction bar. So you have -6/3 which = -2.
